Roses from Evron
I think back to your last words
etched on the postcard you sent,
a simple remnant of your ardour
botched in blue ink, capturing the
entirety of its essence in one sentence
“love with your head, not your heart”.
Come/
Come, now go.
Everything comes and goes,
if only it could stay like this
forever
I like the sound of that,
but good songs never last,
like the wind
it’s all blown away
in search of freedom.
Sometimes, you can hear them sing
as the leaves rustle to their song,
“enjoy it whilst it lasts”
it seems to say,
but it doesn’t work that way,
for you never know when you
may lose yourself in finding
a good song.
